Revolutionary forces in Karenni State have successfully captured Infantry Battalion 134 of the military council in Pharsaw Town, taking more than 50 prisoners of war, according to Karenni revolutionary sources. The offensive against Infantry Battalion 134 began on June 26, and revolutionary forces have now completely taken control of the military base. The operation to capture Pharsaw Town began on May 4, 2024, when revolutionary forces launched attacks against both Infantry Battalion 134 and Infantry Battalion 135 of the military council.
Following the capture of Infantry Battalion 134, revolutionary forces are continuing their offensive against the remaining Infantry Battalion 135. Pharsaw Town has only these two military council battalions, and if both bases are captured, the entire Pharsaw Township will come under the control of revolutionary forces. The success of this operation represents a significant strategic victory for the revolutionary forces in their campaign to liberate the area from military council control.
During the battle, Kyaw Soe (aka) Sai Maung, a 40-year-old member of the Pharsaw People’s Defense Force (Battalion-1108), sacrificed his life for the country and its people, according to an announcement by the Pharsaw Township People’s Defense Force. The offensive has resulted in military council casualties and the capture of weapons and ammunition. Revolutionary forces have indicated they will release detailed information about the battle situation through official channels. The capture of Infantry Battalion 134 marks a crucial development in the ongoing struggle against the military council’s control in Karenni State.
