Revolutionary forces successfully captured a military council camp in Kan Thar village, Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in at least 15 military council casualties and the seizure of significant amounts of weapons and ammunition, according to Salai Thak Ni, spokesperson for the Chin National Army (CNA). The final assault and capture of the military base took place on April 11, 2024, with revolutionary forces completely overwhelming the military council’s position.
The joint operation involved multiple revolutionary organizations, including the Chin National Army (CNA), All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) Column 3, Battalion 12, Kalay-Kanpetlet People’s Defense Force (KKG-PDF), Hanthawaddy People’s Defense Force (PDF), Siyin People’s Defense Force (CDF-Siyin), Kalay District Military Command, and Thantlang Democratic Forces. Following the battle, fifteen bodies of military council soldiers were confirmed, with no survivors taken as prisoners. The successful operation demonstrated the growing coordination and effectiveness of revolutionary forces in their campaign against the military council.
The revolutionary forces are currently conducting a detailed inventory of the captured weapons, ammunition, and military equipment, with initial reports indicating a substantial quantity of seized materials. According to Salai Thak Ni, this victory represents a significant achievement in the ongoing resistance against the military council, highlighting the increasing capabilities of the revolutionary forces when conducting joint operations. The capture of this strategic position and its military assets is expected to strengthen the revolutionary forces’ capacity for future operations in the region.
