
Military Region 1 has officially announced that revolutionary forces successfully captured the military council camp in Thaw Tha village, Mawlaik Township, Sagaing Region. On August 15, combined forces from Mawlaik District Battalions 2 and 4, along with the Phaunggyi Township People’s Defense Force, launched an attack on the Pyu Saw Htee camp in Thaw Tha village, which was under the command of Pyu leader Eh Pan and housed military council troops.
During the battle, approximately 130 military council troops traveling downstream on rafts along the Chindwin River, along with about 50 troops from Taung Inn village, attempted to launch a counteroffensive to provide military support at Inn Ta Paung village. However, their efforts were thwarted by the resistance forces’ defensive operations. The military council deployed a Yak-130 aircraft from Tataoo Air Base, which dropped two bombs, while military vessels also conducted drone strikes during the engagement.
Following the complete capture of the Thaw Tha village military camp by revolutionary forces, casualties on the military council’s side included three deaths and nine injuries. The operation resulted in the arrest of Pyu Saw Htee leader Eh Pan and 190 family members of Pyu Saw Htee members, while approximately twenty Pyu Saw Htee members managed to escape. According to the revolutionary forces’ statement, seized materials from the battle included 23 weapons, including 60mm mortars and RPGs, various ammunition, and over 15 million kyats in cash.
