Revolutionary forces have launched a grenade attack on the military council-controlled ward administrator’s office in Ward 141 of Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. The attack occurred at 10:01 PM on March 8, carried out through a joint operation between the Yangon Army (YA) and the People’s Defense Force of Western District. A representative from the Yangon Army provided details of the operation to the Yangon Modern News Agency.
According to the revolutionary forces, the attack was conducted in response to ongoing oppression and abuse of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates. Under the military council’s administration, these local authorities have been implementing policies that severely impact civilians’ daily lives, including forced military recruitment, extortion, and intimidation. The revolutionary forces have declared their commitment to continue their resistance until the complete dismantling of the military dictatorship system. They emphasized that such operations are necessary to protect civilians from the military council’s oppressive administrative mechanisms.
Following the attack, revolutionary forces confirmed the likelihood of casualties among the ward administrator and other military council affiliates. They have pledged to continue targeting the military council’s administrative infrastructure and any entities that harm public interests. Local residents reportedly support these revolutionary activities, viewing them as necessary steps toward dismantling the military council’s oppressive control over civilian areas. The operation demonstrates the growing resistance against the military council’s administrative presence in Yangon’s suburban areas.
