Revolutionary forces carried out an attack using hand grenades on the military council-controlled ward administration office in Ward 141 of Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. The attack occurred at 10:01 PM on March 8th and was jointly conducted by the Yangon Army (YA) and the People’s Defense Force of Western District. A representative from the Yangon Army (YA) provided detailed information about the operation to the Yangon Modern News Agency.
According to the revolutionary forces, the attack was carried out in response to ongoing oppression and abuse of local residents by the ward administrator and his subordinates. Under the military council’s administration, these local authorities have been forcing civilians to register for military service, collecting unauthorized fees, and making threats, severely impacting the daily lives of residents. The resistance forces explained that these military council-affiliated offices have become legitimate targets due to their role in implementing oppressive policies against the civilian population.
The revolutionary forces estimate that the ward administrator and others may have been killed or injured in the attack. The Yangon Army (YA) representative further stated that similar operations against military council targets would continue until the fall of the terrorist military regime. Since the military coup, there has been a notable increase in attacks by revolutionary forces in Yangon, leading to significant disruption of the military council’s administrative mechanisms throughout the city. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to dismantling the military council’s infrastructure while continuing to protect civilian interests.
