Revolutionary forces successfully attacked the military’s Southern Command Headquarters in Taungoo with rockets on August 26th. The attack was carried out at 10:35 AM under the leadership of Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), in coordination with Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces, Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force, and the Thandaung North Special Region Fighter Salt Cell group. The joint forces launched five 107mm rockets at the Southern Command Headquarters, with four successfully hitting their targets, according to a BWM official.
The Southern Command Headquarters is a crucial military installation responsible for operations against revolutionary forces in Karen State, Karenni State, and Southern Shan State. The successful attack demonstrates the military’s inability to protect even its own important command centers, according to revolutionary forces. The BWM spokesperson stated that they will continue targeting significant military installations while battles continue across the country. The attack was designated as BWM Mission 45.
On the same day, BWM and allied forces also conducted an attack on the military’s Bayin Naung Combat Training School in Thandaunggyi, Karen State, using nine rockets. The attack was timed during training hours when intelligence indicated over 400 military officers were attending courses at the facility. The Bayin Naung Combat Training School is particularly significant as it serves as the primary training center for platoon commanders, company commanders, and battalion commanders from across Myanmar, making it a strategically important target for resistance forces. The successful attacks on both facilities demonstrate the growing capabilities of revolutionary forces to strike high-value military targets.
