Revolutionary forces launched an attack on the police station in Saku town, Magway Region, using heavy and light weapons, resulting in casualties among the military council troops, according to local military sources. The attack occurred around 10 PM on July 1st and was carried out in response to the criminal activities being perpetrated by military council troops against civilians in Saku town.
At the time of the attack, there were approximately 15 personnel stationed at the Saku police station. The revolutionary forces initially opened fire with heavy weapons before continuing the assault with small arms. While there were confirmed injuries among military council troops, the exact number of casualties could not be verified. When the attack began, military council troops fled to their bunkers for cover. The attack was conducted as a warning response to the military council troops’ oppressive actions in Saku town, including forceful confiscation of civilians’ motorcycles, arbitrary arrests of pedestrians, and imposing severe restrictions on movement.
Sources indicated that the military council’s chief minister was reportedly in town for meetings at the time of the attack. The revolutionary forces also intended to demonstrate their capability to conduct military operations within the town itself. The attack highlighted the growing resistance against the military council’s oppressive measures in the region and showed that revolutionary forces could effectively challenge military positions even in urban areas. The incident occurred while some shops in the town were still open, though the primary objective was to demonstrate the resistance’s ability to launch operations within the town center.
