A representative from the Shwebo Township People’s Security Force has confirmed that revolutionary forces launched an attack on the Pyusawhti camp based in Thilone village, Sagaing Region, on July 19. The attack was prompted by the camp’s frequent harassment of local farmers who were attempting to harvest their crops. The operation was specifically targeted at military council troops who had been disrupting the essential agricultural activities that local civilians depend on for their livelihood.
During the engagement, there was a 30-minute exchange of heavy and light weapons fire. The initial attack was met with reinforcements from Pyusawhti groups from Panyan and Zibyugon villages, who responded with two RPG launches. The revolutionary forces managed to withdraw without casualties. While there were reported casualties among the military council troops, the exact numbers could not be confirmed at the time of reporting.
The operation was carried out through a coordinated effort of multiple revolutionary groups from the Shwebo region, including Shwebo Crocodile, Firly Dragon Force, Shwebo Township People’s Security Force, Shwebo Federal Army, HG Fighter, Daung Sit Thae, Swan Ye Shwebo, Eye For Eye, Shwebo Western Revolution Force, Farmers’ Liberation Force, and Colonel Lin Yaung People’s Defense Force. The groups stated that this operation was conducted with the dual purpose of protecting local civilians’ lives and properties while resisting the military council’s oppressive actions. The revolutionary forces emphasized their commitment to defending civilian interests and called for continued public support in their efforts to counter military council forces that have been destroying civilian homes and committing atrocities against the local population.
