On March 19, fighting broke out on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region. The clash began around 10:45 AM when revolutionary forces launched an attack on the military council’s Pyinsi Highway Police Outpost located at mile marker 319/6. The exchange of fire between both sides lasted approximately 40 minutes, according to local sources.
During the fighting, the highway was temporarily closed, forcing travelers to turn back along their original routes. The battle concluded around noon, after which the road was reopened to traffic. Local reconnaissance sources confirmed that following the battle, military council forces moved into the area around Pyinsi Police Station with approximately 100 troops, while the revolutionary forces withdrew after completing their operation.
This engagement demonstrates the continued military activities of revolutionary forces in the Natogyi area and represents a challenge to the military council’s control over the crucial Yangon-Mandalay Highway. While the fighting caused temporary disruption to civilian travel, there is no confirmed information regarding casualties. Attempts to contact the Natogyi People’s Defense Force Myingyan District Battalion 4 have been unsuccessful as of this report.
