Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) from Waw Township and Kawa Township, using three 107mm rockets to target the checkpoint. A spokesperson from the Waw Township PDF confirmed the attack to local media.
The Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a major obstacle for revolutionary forces, particularly serving as a key inspection point along weapons and ammunition supply routes. While the exact casualties and damage inflicted on military council forces could not be immediately verified, the attacking forces were able to successfully withdraw from the area without sustaining any casualties. The checkpoint has been notorious for its strict inspections and frequent seizures of supplies intended for resistance forces.
A representative from the Waw Township PDF explained that the Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint has been a significant hindrance to revolutionary activities, regularly intercepting weapons and ammunition shipments through their inspection procedures. The spokesperson revealed that they have plans to continue targeting this checkpoint as part of their broader strategy to strengthen supply routes and expand operational capabilities in the region. The revolutionary forces maintain their commitment to dismantling such military checkpoints to facilitate more effective resistance operations and secure transportation corridors for essential supplies. This attack represents part of the ongoing effort by resistance forces to challenge the military council’s control over key transportation routes and strategic checkpoints throughout the country.
