Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. According to a responsible official from the Waw Township People’s Defense Force, the attack was carried out at approximately 3 AM using three 107mm rocket-propelled grenades.
The operation was jointly conducted by People’s Defense Forces from Waw and Kawa townships. While the extent of casualties and damage inflicted on military council personnel and facilities could not be immediately confirmed, reports indicate that all revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area without sustaining any casualties or injuries. The checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a major obstacle for revolutionary forces, particularly due to its role in intercepting weapons and ammunition shipments.
A spokesperson from the Waw Township People’s Defense Force emphasized that the Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint has been a significant hindrance to revolutionary activities, frequently resulting in the interception and seizure of strategic supplies. The official stated that they will continue to target this checkpoint as part of their systematic approach to removing obstacles to the revolutionary movement. The checkpoint’s strategic location and its role in disrupting supply lines have made it a priority target for revolutionary forces operating in the region, with plans for further operations being developed to neutralize its effectiveness.
