Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) from Waw and Kawa townships, utilizing three 107mm rockets in the assault. A spokesperson from the Waw Township PDF confirmed the attack to local media.
The Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a major obstacle for revolutionary forces, particularly in their logistics operations. The checkpoint has been specifically targeted due to its strategic location and its role in intercepting weapons and ammunition shipments. While the exact casualties and damage inflicted on military council forces could not be immediately verified, the attacking forces successfully withdrew from the operation without sustaining any casualties.
A representative from the Waw Township PDF emphasized that the Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint has been a significant hindrance to revolutionary activities, particularly in terms of weapons transportation and movement. The spokesperson indicated that the checkpoint would continue to be a priority target for systematic dismantling due to its role in disrupting supply lines and revolutionary operations. This successful operation demonstrates the effective coordination between local People’s Defense Forces in the region, marking a significant achievement in their ongoing resistance efforts against the military council’s presence in the area.
