Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. According to an official from the Waw Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), the attack was carried out using three 107mm rocket-propelled grenades.
The operation was conducted around 3 AM through a joint effort between the People’s Defense Forces from Waw and Kawa townships. While the exact casualties and damage inflicted on the military council forces could not be immediately verified, it was confirmed that the revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties.
The Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a major obstacle for revolutionary forces’ operations. It serves as a critical checkpoint where the military council frequently intercepts weapons and ammunition shipments, resulting in numerous arrests. The PDF official revealed that revolutionary forces are planning continued operations against this checkpoint due to its strategic significance in hampering their movement and supply lines. The checkpoint’s location and the military council’s strict inspection procedures have made it a priority target for resistance forces operating in the region.
