Revolutionary forces have launched an attack on the military council’s Alar Air Base in Naypyidaw using 107mm rockets, according to an announcement by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM). The attack took place on April 18 at 10:05 PM, with the Black Leopard group carrying out the operation under BWM’s command. The operation successfully launched three 107mm rockets into the air base compound, as confirmed by official sources.
Local residents in Naypyidaw confirmed hearing multiple explosions during the night, with approximately five distinct blast sounds reported. While damage was inflicted during the attack, detailed assessment of the impact is still ongoing according to officials. The operation faced several challenges, including tight security measures and adverse weather conditions, but managed to achieve its objectives despite these obstacles. The attack was specifically carried out as Mission 33 of BWM’s air force suppression campaign.
This military action was conducted in response to the military council’s continuous aerial bombardment of civilian areas in Sagaing, Mandalay, and Bago regions, particularly during the aftermath of the March 28 earthquake when people were already suffering from natural disaster impacts. Records show that hundreds of civilians have been killed or injured due to the military’s air strikes since the earthquake. The revolutionary forces targeted the Alar Air Base, which, despite sustaining some earthquake damage, was still being used by the military council to launch attacks against civilians. The operation was designated as BWM Mission 33, aimed at degrading the military’s air strike capabilities that have been causing civilian casualties across the country.
