A spokesperson from Area71Local People Defense Force Monywa confirmed that resistance forces conducted a mine attack on three military vehicles that were en route to retrieve the body of a deceased deputy lieutenant who had died from stepping on a landmine at the Bodhi Thousand military camp in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred on July 27 in the afternoon when the military convoy was heading to the army outpost stationed at the Bodhi Thousand tower hill, which falls under the jurisdiction of Monywa Regional Military Command.
The targeted convoy consisted of one Jummer vehicle and two armored trucks, which were carrying supplies for the outpost and attempting to recover the body of the deceased deputy lieutenant. The attack took place along the Myay Nae-Bodhi Thousand road section, resulting in the third vehicle coming to a complete stop. In response, military personnel fired heavy weapons and small arms indiscriminately to their left and right sides of the road. The operation was carried out through coordination between multiple resistance groups, including the Monywa Township People’s Defense Mine Unit, Golden Peacock Attack Force, and Area71Local People Defence Force.
According to resistance officials, their forces successfully withdrew from the operation without sustaining any casualties. However, the extent of casualties on the military council’s side could not be immediately verified. These types of operations are part of the ongoing resistance efforts to protect the security and rights of local civilians in the region. The resistance forces continue to maintain their defensive positions while conducting strategic operations against military council targets, demonstrating their commitment to the broader struggle for civilian protection and democratic restoration in Myanmar.
