Revolutionary forces successfully attacked and cleared military council positions at the Zagyan Gate checkpoint and a vest factory in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in three military council casualties and the destruction of their checkpoint and warehouse facilities. The operation was confirmed by an official from Battalion 3 of the Myingyan District resistance forces.
The attack began in the afternoon of March 14, targeting the Zagyan Gate checkpoint on the western outskirts of Thaung Tha town, where approximately 50 military council troops were stationed. During the engagement, three military council soldiers were killed and many others were wounded. Although about 30 military council troops attempted to counter-attack and surround the revolutionary forces, preventing the collection of weapons from the fallen soldiers, the resistance forces successfully burned down the checkpoint station. The operation demonstrated the growing capabilities of revolutionary forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military council positions.
Following the initial assault, the revolutionary forces proceeded to attack the vest factory in Thaung Tha Township. Using 60mm heavy weapons, they targeted military council troops stationed at the factory, resulting in the destruction of three bunkers within the facility compound. The revolutionary forces also set fire to an onion storage warehouse within the factory premises. These attacks significantly impacted the military council’s control in the area and were intended to reduce their ability to oppress local civilians. The successful operation highlighted the revolutionary forces’ continued commitment to challenging the military council’s presence in the region and their efforts to protect civilian populations from military oppression.
