Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) from Waw Township and Kawa Township, utilizing three 107mm rockets in the assault. A spokesperson from the Waw Township PDF confirmed the attack to local media.
The Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a major obstacle for revolutionary forces, particularly in their logistics operations. The checkpoint has been specifically targeted due to its strategic location and its role in intercepting weapons and ammunition shipments. While the exact casualties and damage inflicted on military council forces could not be immediately verified, the attacking forces were able to successfully withdraw from the operation without sustaining any casualties.
A representative from the Waw Township PDF explained that the checkpoint has been a significant hindrance to revolutionary activities, particularly in terms of weapons transportation, with numerous seizures occurring at this location. The spokesperson indicated that they have plans to continue targeting this checkpoint for elimination. Currently, revolutionary forces are systematically targeting military council checkpoints and bases throughout the region as part of their broader resistance strategy. The attack demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated operations against military infrastructure.
