A spokesperson from the Ayardaw Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that two military council soldiers were killed during an attack in Depayin town, Sagaing Region, on March 23 at approximately 2:00 PM. The incident occurred when revolutionary forces launched an attack on about 20 military council troops who were collecting supplies that had been airdropped by a Mi-17 military helicopter. The attack took place at a military council position within Depayin town, resulting in two casualties among the military council forces while the revolutionary fighters were able to withdraw successfully without any injuries.
The engagement lasted approximately 15 minutes, with resistance forces conducting a close-quarters attack using small arms. The revolutionary forces had positioned themselves in concealment near the area where the supplies were dropped. They were forced to withdraw when military council reinforcements arrived at the scene. The operation was a joint effort between the People’s Defense Forces from Ayardaw and Depayin townships. Although the area is under primary control of the military council, revolutionary forces continue to conduct attacks whenever opportunities arise. The successful ambush demonstrates the ongoing resistance activities against military council forces in the region, particularly targeting their supply operations.
