The People’s Defense Force Strategic Command-33 Special Division has announced that revolutionary forces attacked military council reinforcements heading to Nat Eain Taung camp on the Thai-Myanmar border east of Kaleinaung town in Yebyu Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region. The attack resulted in four military casualties and the seizure of weapons and ammunition. The clash occurred around 1:15 PM on August 4th when revolutionary alliance forces encountered approximately 60 military council troops near Kaut Hlaing village who were attempting to reinforce Nat Eain Taung camp.
The 45-minute battle resulted in four military council casualties and numerous injuries, forcing their retreat. Revolutionary forces captured military equipment including one MA4 rifle with regiment 409 markings, four 60mm mortar rounds, two inert bombs, seven ammunition magazines, and over 100 rounds of ammunition. Two resistance fighters were wounded but their conditions are not serious. The joint attack was carried out by Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 27, Star Light (Thakapaw) Battalion KTLA, Strategic Command-33 Operations Force, Dawn Battalion 2 (YGF), Dawn Battalion 3 (KBDF), Mon National Army (NMSP/AD, RMA) and Mon State Revolution Force (MSRF).
Currently, revolutionary forces have completely surrounded Nat Eain Taung camp, making ground reinforcement by military council forces impossible. However, the military council continues to make frequent attempts to send reinforcements to the camp, though these attempts have been repeatedly repelled by resistance forces. Previously on July 7th, KNLA and PDF joint forces captured the military council’s Thuka army camp on the Thai-Myanmar border in Dawei District, forcing all military personnel to flee into Thailand.
KNLA and PDF alliance forces had already captured five military camps along the Thai-Myanmar border in Dawei District during April and June, including Htee Hta Strategic Camp, Htee Khee Army Camp, Bawdi Army Camp, Nga Yant Ni Camp, and Thuka Camp. Only Nat Eain Taung camp remains, which houses between 30-50 soldiers. If this final camp is captured, the entire Thai-Myanmar border area in Dawei District will come under the control of KNLA-led revolutionary forces.
