Revolutionary forces successfully launched attacks on military council positions in Salingyi town, Sagaing Region, targeting a police station and administrative office where junta troops were stationed. According to the leader of the Chindwin Dynamite People’s Defense Force, the attack occurred around 10 AM on March 7, using 60mm and 80mm heavy weapons against approximately 80 military council troops stationed at these positions.
During the attack, while the military council forces responded with small arms fire, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties. Reports indicate that there were casualties on the military council’s side and explosions within their compound, though the exact details are still being investigated. The coordinated attack was carried out by a coalition of resistance forces including the Chindwin Dynamite group, Yinmabin District Battalion, Red Wing Special Guerrilla Force, and other revolutionary units. The attacking forces reportedly fired 25 heavy artillery rounds during the operation.
Simultaneously, resistance forces conducted a successful mine attack against military council troops returning from patrol duties on the Monywa-Mandalay road. On the evening of March 7, a group of 23 military council soldiers, who were providing security for a weapons and ammunition transport to Myapyugyi Gate checkpoint, were targeted with Padamya mines (5.1 points) as they were returning. The attack resulted in military casualties, though the exact numbers are still being verified. This operation was jointly carried out by Chaung-U Township PDF forces, Special Forces 11-LPDF, and Monywa Dynamite (STF) units.
The attacks demonstrate the continued resistance against military council forces in the Sagaing Region, with various revolutionary groups coordinating their efforts to challenge the military council’s control. The resistance forces have been systematically targeting military council positions and troop movements, showing their capability to conduct both direct attacks using heavy weapons and guerrilla-style operations using mines and ambush tactics.
