Revolutionary forces successfully launched attacks on military council positions in Salingyi town, Sagaing Region, targeting a police station and administrative office where junta troops were stationed. According to the leader of the Chindwin Dynamite People’s Defense Force, the attack occurred around 10 AM on March 7, using 60mm and 80mm heavy weapons against approximately 80 military council troops stationed at these positions.
During the assault, while the military council forces responded with small arms fire, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties. The attack reportedly caused damage and explosions within the military positions, though the exact number of military casualties is still being investigated. The operation was carried out jointly by the Chindwin Dynamite group, Yinmabin District Battalion, Red Wing Special Guerrilla Force, and other revolutionary groups, who fired approximately 25 heavy artillery rounds during the attack. The resistance forces indicated they are enhancing their operational capabilities for future engagements.
In a separate operation on the same day, resistance forces successfully ambushed military council troops returning from patrol duties on the Monywa-Mandalay road. The incident occurred when 23 soldiers from the military council, who were providing security for a convoy transporting weapons and ammunition to Myapyugyi Gate checkpoint from the Northwest Military Command in Monywa, were targeted with Padamya mines. The attack resulted in multiple military casualties, though the exact numbers are still being confirmed. This operation was conducted through coordination between Chaung-U Township PDF forces, Special Forces 11-LPDF, and Monywa Dynamite (STF) units.
The military council had earlier dispatched three vehicles carrying weapons and ammunition from the Northwest Military Command headquarters in Monywa to the Myapyugyi checkpoint. The resistance forces strategically targeted the security detail during their return journey, demonstrating the growing capabilities of revolutionary forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military council positions and operations. These attacks represent ongoing efforts by resistance forces to challenge the military council’s control in the Sagaing Region, with resistance groups continuing to enhance their tactical approaches and coordination between different units.
