On March 8th at around 6 AM, revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on three military council positions in Longlone Town, Tanintharyi Region. The targeted locations included the police station, General Administration Office, and Military Security Force office, according to local residents. During the clashes, the military council’s navy and troops from Dawei city continuously fired heavy artillery at Longlone town and surrounding villages, forcing local civilians to flee to safety.
The fighting concluded around noon, after which the revolutionary forces withdrew from the area. Following their withdrawal, the military council forces closed off the Kyamaukgyi Bridge connecting Dawei and Longlone, and began reinforcing their troops in the area. Despite the end of direct combat, military council forces continued their artillery bombardment, with both Dawei-based troops and naval forces conducting coordinated shelling operations, according to local sources.
Local revolutionary organizations have issued warnings to residents to remain vigilant, as the military council forces may conduct aerial attacks on Longlone town and nearby villages. Currently, the military council has blocked all travel across the Kyamaukgyi Bridge while additional forces from Dawei continue to arrive in the area, causing significant concern among local residents. The situation remains tense as civilians face ongoing security threats from military council operations in the region.
