Revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on three military council positions in Launglone town, Tanintharyi Region, at around 6 AM on March 8. The targeted locations included the police station, General Administration Office, and Military Security Force office, according to local residents. Since the beginning of the clashes, the military council’s navy and troops from Dawei have been continuously firing heavy artillery at Launglone town and surrounding villages. Due to these attacks, many local residents have been forced to flee to safer locations.
The fighting ended around noon, and after the revolutionary forces withdrew, the military council forces closed the Kyamaukgyi Bridge connecting Dawei and Launglone, while reinforcing their troops in the area. Despite the end of direct combat, the military council forces continue to fire heavy artillery, with coordinated attacks from both Dawei-based forces and the navy. The closure of Kyamaukgyi Bridge has restricted civilian movement, and additional military forces have been observed arriving from the Dawei area.
Local revolutionary organizations have issued warnings to residents of Launglone town and nearby villages to remain vigilant due to possible airstrikes by the military council forces. The ongoing artillery attacks have caused fear and panic among local residents, with some fleeing to safer locations while others remain sheltered in their homes. The fighting has significantly disrupted local transportation, economic activities, and daily life in the region. The military council’s aggressive response to the resistance attacks has created a humanitarian concern for civilians in the area, who are caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict.
