Revolutionary forces from the People’s Defense Force Battalion 3601 (PPDF) under Strategy 21 conducted a sniper attack on the military council checkpoint in Thayi Pin village, Thayetkon Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of one military council soldier. The attack occurred at approximately 3:45 PM on July 7. During the operation, one military council soldier was killed, and another was wounded in the engagement.
Following the attack, both the deceased and the wounded soldier were transported to the 100-bed military hospital in Shwetaung, as confirmed by Comrade Shadow, the intelligence and information officer of Battalion 3601. Although military council troops responded with small arms fire, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without sustaining any casualties.
The targeted checkpoint in Thayi Pin village has been identified as a location where civilian oppression regularly occurs. Local residents report that the checkpoint personnel routinely engage in the forceful confiscation of goods from market-goers, extortion, verbal abuse, and the forced conscription of young people and students as porters. Due to these ongoing threats to civilian safety, revolutionary forces have warned local residents to avoid areas where military council troops are stationed. The checkpoint has become notorious in the region for its systematic harassment of civilians and represents one of many such installations where the military council maintains its oppressive presence over the local population.
