Revolutionary forces successfully ambushed a military column that departed from Ngwe Dwin military camp in Ayartaw Township, Sagaing Region, as it attempted to transport supplies to the town, resulting in the death of one soldier, according to a representative from the Ngwe Dwin Revolution Force. The clash, which occurred on May 8, lasted over four hours and also left six Pyu Saw Htee militia members and several military council troops severely wounded.
The military column, consisting of approximately 50 personnel, was intercepted while attempting to transport supplies when revolutionary forces launched their attack. One soldier was killed instantly during the engagement. The resistance forces strategically withdrew when reinforcements arrived from Military Training Center No. 10 in Ayartaw with significant numbers. The operation was jointly carried out by revolutionary forces from Monywa District Battalion 21 and resistance groups from Townships 9, 10, and 11.
The revolutionary forces took special care to avoid civilian casualties during the engagement, according to the resistance spokesperson. While the military council forces are known for committing violence against local civilians, no civilians were harmed during this particular clash. Revolutionary forces continue their operations throughout the Sagaing Region, focusing on disrupting military supply lines and weakening the junta’s logistics capabilities in the area.
