
The New Mon State Party (Anti-Dictatorship) NMSP (AD) has officially announced that one soldier was killed and five others were wounded in an attack on Military Battalion 318, stationed along the road between Mawlamyine and Thaton in Mon State. The attack occurred around 12:00 PM on May 20, targeting the military battalion positioned near Yaungdaung village in Mudon Township along the Thaton highway. The revolutionary forces specifically targeted this military installation, which has been a significant base for the military council’s operations in the region.
The engagement lasted approximately 30 minutes, during which intense exchanges of fire took place between the revolutionary forces and the military troops. The military council suffered confirmed casualties with one soldier killed and five others wounded during the confrontation. The revolutionary forces also reported that one of their members was injured during the operation, according to the official statement released by the New Mon State Party (Anti-Dictatorship).
Battalion 318 has been identified as a key military installation in the region and has been used by the military council to suppress the people’s revolution. The revolutionary forces targeted this battalion due to its involvement in various oppressive actions against local civilians, including looting and acts of violence.
