A representative from the Myingyan District Battalion No. 3 has confirmed that revolutionary forces successfully intercepted and attacked military council troops conducting operations in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in casualties among military personnel and the seizure of weapons and ammunition. The engagement occurred around 11:00 AM on June 25 near Kyin Zalut village in Thaung Tha Township, where resistance forces launched an ambush against advancing military council troops. While there were confirmed casualties among the military council forces, the exact number of casualties could not be immediately verified.
During the battle, revolutionary forces managed to capture significant military equipment from the military council troops, including twelve 60mm mortar rounds and one RPG warhead. Following the initial engagement, on June 26, the military council responded with aerial attacks using three Mi-35 attack helicopters, targeting the area around Kyin Zalut village. These aerial assaults were conducted at three different times throughout the day: at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. These attacks appeared to be retaliatory measures by the military council in response to their losses during the ground engagement.
The operation against the military council forces was conducted through a coordinated effort between Myingyan District Battalion No. 3 and Nyaung-U District Battalion No. 5. Following the series of engagements, the military council troops withdrew from Kyin Zalut village to Nga Tharauk police station area around 3:00 AM on June 27. This battle represents a significant victory for the revolutionary forces in the Thaung Tha region, demonstrating their capability to effectively counter military council offensive operations and their ability to coordinate successful resistance operations. The engagement also highlighted the continuing pattern of the military council’s use of disproportionate force, including aerial attacks against civilian areas, in response to resistance activities.
