Revolutionary forces conducted an attack using three hand grenades on businesses owned by air force family members in Taykongyi village, Hmawbi Township. The operation was jointly carried out by the Yangon Army and Western District People’s Defense Force on May 29 at 7:55 PM. The targeted establishments were three connected shops owned by relatives of Taykongyi village administrator Aung Thu.
According to a spokesperson from the Yangon Army, the family members of village administrator Aung Thu are retired air force personnel, and his youngest brother is currently serving in the air force’s transport operations. The spokesperson further warned that they would continue to target relatives of military council soldiers serving in the air force. The attack demonstrates the resistance forces’ ongoing campaign against military council-affiliated individuals and their family members.
Reports confirm that revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the operation without any casualties. Such attacks represent part of the broader pressure campaign against the military council and their associates, highlighting the resistance movement’s continued efforts to dismantle the military dictatorship. The targeting of military-affiliated businesses and family members reflects the resistance’s strategy of weakening the military council’s support network and economic resources.
