Revolutionary forces successfully engaged with military troops in multiple battles across Sagaing Region, particularly in Chaung Ma village of Kani Township. On September 11, when the military council’s forces entered Chaung Ma village, resistance forces launched coordinated attacks that forced the entire military column to retreat to Ban Bwe Pyu Saw Htee village. During their retreat, the People’s Defense Force (PDF) ULF column from Yinmabin Township conducted an interceptive attack, resulting in the death of two military soldiers and the capture of two MA-1 rifles, 170 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, and eight ammunition magazines.
Prior to this engagement, when the military column initially attempted to enter Chaung Ma village, resistance forces had already achieved significant success. In that earlier battle, three military personnel were killed, four were captured as prisoners of war, and seven weapons were seized, according to a statement from the National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Defense. These victories represent important achievements for local civilians and demonstrate the growing capabilities of revolutionary forces in the region. The coordinated nature of these operations highlights the increasing effectiveness of resistance strategies against military council forces.
Additionally, fighting occurred in Thapyay Tha village in Shwebo Township. On August 18, when military forces attempted to enter Thapyay Tha village, resistance forces responded with drone attacks. While the exact casualties on the military side could not be confirmed, resistance forces were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties. This operation was jointly conducted by Shwebo Township PDF, Territory 5 Done Group, Yakhagyi Regional PDF, and other allied forces. The military unit involved was identified as Infantry Training School No. 8 from Light Infantry Battalion 11 based in Shwebo, which had established a position in Thapyay Tha village. According to a Fight For Freedom representative, the attack resulted in damage to one military vehicle and injuries to four military personnel, though these numbers could not be independently verified.
