The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) spokesperson Comrade Ni Ni Kyaw has confirmed that revolutionary allied forces have successfully captured the military council camp in Kandaung, Pale Township, Sagaing Region. The offensive operation began on June 2, with PLA-led allied forces launching attacks on the Kandaung police station area. Intense fighting continued daily, and on June 10, despite facing airstrikes from the military council, the revolutionary forces managed to shoot down one of their jet fighters. The successful operation culminated in the complete capture of the base on June 19.
During the ongoing battles, the military council conducted aerial bombardments targeting civilian villages in the area. These attacks resulted in the death of at least five civilians and forced residents from more than 20 villages to flee their homes as internally displaced persons. The Kandaung camp was considered a heavily fortified position, protected by multiple layers of barbed wire, trenches, bunkers, and minefields. Despite these formidable defenses, the revolutionary forces successfully captured the stronghold, demonstrating their growing military capabilities and coordination.
While this capture marks a significant victory, the military council continues to conduct aerial attacks in the area. The revolutionary forces also suffered casualties during the operation, though exact details remain unclear due to communication difficulties, as explained by the PLA spokesperson. This achievement represents an important milestone in Myanmar’s revolution, showcasing the effectiveness and unity of the revolutionary forces in their struggle against the military council. The successful operation has proven the increasing capabilities of the resistance forces in conducting complex military operations against well-fortified positions, despite facing superior air power and heavy defensive infrastructure.
