A spokesperson from the Natogyi People’s Defense Force (PDF) has confirmed that resistance forces successfully intercepted and attacked a military reinforcement column heading to Watluu Police Station in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region. The operation resulted in four casualties on the military council’s side, the capture of two soldiers, and the rescue of eight forcibly conscripted new recruits.
The interception took place around 11 AM on June 3rd, when revolutionary forces engaged the military council’s reinforcement column that was en route to support operations at Watluu Police Station. During the engagement, resistance forces managed to capture a sniper and another soldier alive, while also successfully evacuating eight new recruits who had been forcibly conscripted into military service and fled from the military column during the fighting.
The resistance forces reported seizing weapons, ammunition, and recovering one deceased soldier’s body during the battle. A Natogyi PDF official emphasized that many of these confrontations involve young people who have been forcibly recruited under the military service law and civilian porters coerced into supporting military operations. The PDF spokesperson urged these young recruits to seek ways to escape and join either civilian communities or People’s Defense Forces whenever possible, highlighting the ongoing issue of forced military service under the military council.
The operation was designated as the 9/A Nyar Myae Operation and was carried out through coordination between Myingyan District Battalion 4, Myingyan District Battalion 10, and allied resistance forces. Following the engagement, resistance forces continued their operations to ensure the security of local civilians in the area. This successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in their fight against the military council’s oppression while simultaneously working to protect and rescue civilians forced into military service.
