The People’s Administration Team of Kanbalu Township has announced that they will submit documentation regarding civilian casualties and damages from the terrorist military’s airstrike on the Kanbalu Township Public Hospital in Sagaing Region to international organizations. On July 29 at approximately 10:30 PM, the terrorist military conducted two aerial bombardments on the township public hospital, which was providing healthcare services to the public under the management of the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Health in the Sagaing Federal Unit of Kanbalu Township.
The aerial attack resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including a child who was receiving treatment at the hospital, while three others were severely injured. The terrorist military council has repeatedly attacked non-military targets and civilian infrastructure since the coup. These attacks clearly violate the Geneva Conventions, Hague Conventions, and International Humanitarian Law (IHL). However, the Kanbalu Township People’s Administration Team expressed disappointment that the international community has yet to take effective action against these violations. The military council continues to target civilian facilities and populations despite these being protected under international law.
The Kanbalu Township People’s Administration Team has stated that they are maintaining detailed records of these brutal acts committed by the terrorist military council and will submit them to international organizations. They are also preparing case files to be submitted to the Ministry of Justice under the National Unity Government for potential legal proceedings. The administration team expressed their deep condolences for the lives lost and those injured in the military council’s airstrikes, and declared their commitment to continue fighting until the complete removal of the terrorist military council. They emphasized that these documented violations will serve as evidence of the military’s crimes against civilians and their systematic targeting of healthcare facilities.
