People’s Defense Forces successfully attacked and captured members of a Pyu Saw Htee military column operating under the military council in Kalay Wa Township, Sagaing Region. On September 17, resistance forces launched an offensive against approximately 40 Pyu Saw Htee members who were searching for supplies near Aung Chan Thar (Pyu) village camp and Sint Ain Ma (Pyu) village in Kalay Wa Township. During the engagement, three Pyu Saw Htee members were wounded, and one was captured alive along with weapons.
The captured Pyu Saw Htee member was found in possession of one BA-63 rifle, one ammunition magazine, and 25 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The operation against the Pyu Saw Htee column was conducted under the direction of the Battalion Commander of Kalay District Battalion 5, with joint participation from Kalay District Battalions 5 and 9, along with People’s Defense Forces from Kalay Wa Township and Mingin Township.
Currently in Kalay Wa Township, military council forces are primarily stationed within the town proper, while resistance forces maintain control over Pyu villages in the surrounding areas. According to local resistance members, revolutionary forces have greater territorial control in terms of military operations. Although the military council continues to commit acts of violence against local civilians, resistance forces are working to their fullest capacity to ensure the security of the civilian population.
