
A Pyu Saw Htee member named Ye Htet Aung (aka) Tu Tu, who had been collaborating with the terrorist military to forcibly recruit local youth as porters in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, was killed in an attack by the Special Guerrilla Force (SGF). The incident occurred around 4:30 PM on August 18, 2023, in Kyat Sar Pyin ward of Dawei city.
According to a spokesperson from the Special Guerrilla Force, Ye Htet Aung had been actively involved in forcibly recruiting local youth as porters for the military, as well as serving as an armed guide during the military’s waterborne operations in the Thanitaw area. The spokesperson revealed that they had received intelligence about Ye Htet Aung disguising himself as a fisherman with a small fishing boat to gather information about PDF movements along the waterways. When SGF members attempted to apprehend him for questioning, he tried to flee, resulting in the shooting that led to his death.
Local residents reported that Ye Htet Aung had repeatedly participated in the forced recruitment of local youth as porters in collaboration with the terrorist military and was known for intimidating and abusing local civilians. Furthermore, his activities as a guide and informant for military operations had compromised the safety of local residents and posed significant risks to revolutionary forces in the area. His collaboration with the military council had made him a serious threat to both civilian safety and resistance operations in the Dawei region.
