A Pyu Saw Htee member who was on guard duty at a watchtower in Kan Ni village, Myaing Township, Magway Region, was killed after being shot by a sniper from People’s Defense Forces (PDF). The incident occurred in the morning of March 19, when resistance forces conducted a targeted operation against the military-affiliated guard post. Following the successful sniper shot that caused the guard to fall from the watchtower, military forces arrived in large numbers at the location.
The operation was carried out through coordination between multiple resistance groups, including MPL Northern Zone (Myaing-PDF), Man Kyi Yeik Ko Ye PDF, Ko Gatone Territory-4 PDF, Thyawta PDF, and Ko Leo Eagle Brigade. After the initial attack, the resistance forces engaged in a brief exchange of fire with responding military forces. However, due to the military’s superior numbers, the resistance forces made a strategic withdrawal from the area. According to a representative from the MPL Northern Zone, their forces managed to retreat safely without suffering any casualties during the operation.
This operation represents another coordinated effort by resistance forces as part of the ongoing Spring Revolution against the military regime. The successful targeting of the watchtower guard and subsequent safe withdrawal of all participating resistance members demonstrates the continuing capabilities of the People’s Defense Forces in their campaign against military-affiliated targets. The incident also highlights the ongoing conflict in the Magway Region, where resistance forces continue their operations against military control while maintaining tactical discipline in the face of military response.
