
A Pyu Saw Htee member was killed after being shot by a sniper while on guard duty at a watchtower in Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee village, Myaing Township, Magway Region. The incident occurred on the morning of March 19, when People’s Defense Force (PDF) members conducted a targeted operation against the guard post. The sniper shot resulted in the Pyu Saw Htee member being hit and falling from the watchtower, leading to his death. This operation demonstrated the continued resistance activities against military-aligned forces in the region.
Following the initial attack, military forces arrived in large numbers, leading to an exchange of fire with revolutionary forces. The intensity of the confrontation forced the resistance forces to strategically withdraw from the area. According to a responsible official from the MPL Northern Zone (Myaing-PDF), the operation was carried out through coordination between multiple resistance groups, including MPL Northern Zone (Myaing-PDF), Mankonyarpin Ko Ye PDF, Ko Gatone Territory-4 PDF, Thyawta PDF, and Ko Leo Eagle Brigade.
Providing details about the engagement, the official explained that after the successful sniper shot, the military responded with superior numbers and firepower, prompting the resistance forces to return minimal fire before withdrawing. Despite the tactical retreat, all resistance fighters managed to withdraw safely without any casualties. The coordinated operation represents a successful joint effort by local revolutionary forces in the region, demonstrating their ability to conduct precise operations while maintaining the safety of their personnel. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and military-aligned groups in the Magway Region, where various PDF units continue to operate against military control.
