
A Pyu Saw Htee member who was on guard duty at a watchtower in Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee village, Myaing Township, Magway Region, was killed after being shot by a sniper and falling from the tower. The incident occurred on the morning of March 19, when People’s Defense Force (PDF) members conducted a targeted operation against the guard post. The sniper shot resulted in the immediate casualty of the Pyu Saw Htee member, who fell from the observation tower after being hit.
Following the initial attack, military forces arrived in large numbers, leading to an exchange of fire with revolutionary forces. The intensity of the confrontation forced the resistance forces to strategically withdraw from the area, according to an official from the MPL Northern Zone (Myaing-PDF). The operation was a coordinated effort involving multiple resistance groups, including MPL Northern Zone (Myaing-PDF), Mankonyarpin Ko Ye PDF, Ko Gatone Township-4 PDF, Thyawta PDF, and Ko Leo Eagle Brigade.
Providing details about the engagement, the responsible official explained that after the successful sniper shot, the military responded with superior numbers, prompting the resistance forces to return minimal fire before withdrawing. He emphasized that all resistance fighters managed to retreat safely without any casualties. The coordinated attack represents part of the ongoing revolutionary activities in the region, with People’s Defense Forces conducting strategic operations. The successful withdrawal of all resistance members without casualties demonstrates the tactical effectiveness of their operation, despite the military’s numerical advantage in the subsequent confrontation.
