A Pyu Saw Htee member named Aung Kyaw San from Kon Gyi village in Chauk Township, Magway Region, has defected to the Chauk Revolution Army (CRA) along with his family members and weapons. According to the information officer of the Chauk Revolution Army, the defection took place on August 10th, when he brought with him an MA-2 rifle, three magazines, one hand grenade, and 145 rounds of ammunition. The revolutionary forces have rewarded him with 5 million kyats (50 lakhs) for his defection.
The defection was initiated by Aung Kyaw San himself, who contacted the Chauk Revolution Army to arrange his surrender. The CRA has safely transported Aung Kyaw San and his family members to a liberated area under their control. This act of defection represents a brave decision by civilians seeking to escape from the military council’s control. The revolutionary forces have noted that this demonstrates the growing resistance against the military regime’s oppressive rule in the region.
The Chauk Revolution Army provides full security measures for those who choose to defect and ensures safe accommodation for their family members in liberated areas. The revolutionary forces have issued statements welcoming civilians who wish to escape from the military council’s oppression, assuring them of their safety and protection upon defection. This incident highlights the ongoing struggle of Myanmar’s civilians against military rule and the increasing support for revolutionary forces in their fight for democracy and freedom.
