A spokesperson from Battalion 3802 in Thayarwaddy District has confirmed that revolutionary forces conducted an operation against an armed Pyu Saw Htee couple who had been gathering and reporting information about People’s Defense Force (PDF) activities to the military council in Banbwekon village, Minle Township, Bago Region. During the operation, the wife was killed while the husband managed to escape.
The incident occurred around 9:30 PM on April 13, 2024. The targets were identified as Htun Htun Win and his wife Sa O, both graduates of Pyu Saw Htee training who had been regularly providing intelligence about revolutionary forces’ movements to the military council. They were also known for fabricating false reports that led to the arrest of innocent civilians by military forces.
During the raid by Company 2 of Battalion 3802’s revolutionary forces, Htun Htun Win escaped through the back of the house and returned fire using weapons provided by the military council before fleeing the scene. His wife Sa O attempted to attack the revolutionary forces with a hand grenade but was shot three times and killed instantly. According to the battalion spokesperson, the couple had previously been detained and warned by another PDF group for their informant activities but were released. However, they continued their activities, escalating to fabricating false reports that led to civilian arrests and intensifying their intelligence gathering operations against revolutionary forces.
Battalion 3802 has issued a warning to civilians to avoid proximity to military council soldiers and their support structures, as they plan to increase operations against these targets. The battalion emphasized that this action was necessary as the couple’s continued activities posed an increasing threat to both civilian safety and revolutionary operations in the area. The spokesperson explained that despite previous warnings, the couple had expanded their activities to include targeting innocent civilians through false reports while continuing to gather and transmit strategic information about PDF movements to the military council.
