
A public protest against the military dictatorship was successfully conducted in Longlone Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, led by the Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) on the afternoon of August 2. The demonstration was organized to oppose the sham election planned by the military council, with strong participation from local residents who united in protest.
Protesters adopted the slogan ‘Boycott the Sham Election, Boldly March Towards Federalism’ during the demonstration. This movement not only stands against the military dictatorship but also strongly opposes the fraudulent election through which the military council attempts to legitimize their illegal coup. Local citizens bravely participated in the protest, demonstrating their commitment to ending the military dictatorship and establishing a federal democratic system.
Despite ongoing oppression by the military council in the Longlone region, local residents continue their unwavering struggle for democracy. Such public demonstrations clearly show that people reject the military dictatorship and desire only genuine democracy and a federal union. The protest represents a significant display of public resistance against the military council’s attempts to maintain power through illegitimate means.
