On March 18, the Northern Yinmabin Point of No Return Strike Column conducted a public demonstration in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, calling for the implementation of Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Myanmar in 2025. The movement aims to bring international attention to forced labor and human rights violations occurring under the military dictatorship. The demonstration was organized under the banner ‘ILO Implement Article 33 On Myanmar Now 2025.’
The Northern Yinmabin Point of No Return Strike Column has been consistently organizing anti-military dictatorship activities alongside local civilians. Article 33 of the ILO Constitution provides for effective measures to be taken against member states that seriously violate labor rights. Currently in Myanmar, there are widespread reports of civilians being forced into military service and subjected to forced labor by the military forces. The military council has been implementing these practices across the country, leading to severe human rights violations.
During this demonstration, local citizens demanded an end to labor rights violations under the military regime and called for effective action from the international community. The strike column leaders specifically urged the ILO to implement Article 33 against Myanmar’s military council in 2025. The movement represents a continued resistance against the military’s oppressive practices and highlights the ongoing struggle of Myanmar’s civilians against forced labor and other human rights violations perpetrated by the military regime.
