On March 17, the Northern No-Return Spring Revolution Strike Column organized a public demonstration in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, calling for the implementation of Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Myanmar. The movement aims to draw increased international attention to the labor rights violations committed by the military junta. The demonstration was conducted under the banner ‘ILO Implement Article 33 On Myanmar Now 2025.’
The people in the northern Yinmabin region, who are actively resisting the military dictatorship, have been experiencing widespread labor rights violations, forced labor, and human rights abuses. The military junta has been forcing local civilians into military service, imposing forced labor, and violating fundamental human rights. The demonstration participants called on the ILO to take action against Myanmar using Article 33, which is a mechanism that can effectively address labor rights violations and enable the international community to impose economic pressure.
The strike column leaders expressed their belief that such international pressure would support the people’s struggle against the military dictatorship. Article 33 represents a significant tool for addressing labor rights violations and provides a pathway for the international community to implement economic measures against the regime. The public movement in Yinmabin reflects the ongoing resistance against military rule and the people’s determination to seek international intervention to address the systematic violations of labor and human rights in the country.
