On March 18, the Northern No-Return Spring Revolution Strike Column conducted a public demonstration in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, calling for the implementation of ILO Article 33 on Myanmar. This public movement was organized as an anti-military dictatorship protest, specifically demanding the implementation of Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Myanmar by 2025.
The No-Return Spring Revolution Strike Column, which has been consistently carrying out anti-military dictatorship activities in the northern part of Yinmabin, continues to operate with strong support from local residents. They highlighted the urgent need for international community action regarding the violations of workers’ rights and forced labor practices that have emerged in Myanmar following the military coup. The movement emphasizes the deteriorating labor conditions under military rule and calls for concrete international action.
ILO Article 33 is a provision that enables effective measures to be taken when a member state fails to comply with agreed-upon conventions. The call for its implementation comes as Myanmar’s military council continues to commit severe violations of workers’ rights, particularly through widespread practices of forced military service and forced labor. The demonstration represents a significant effort by civil society to bring international attention to these violations and seek meaningful intervention through established international mechanisms.
