The Kalay People’s Strike Leading Committee organized a public demonstration in a village within Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, calling for immediate action against the military council under Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO). During this movement, local residents demanded an end to the military council’s forced labor practices, human rights violations, and labor rights abuses.
Since the military coup, the military council has been widely condemned by the international community for forcing civilians into military service, confiscating public property, and imposing forced labor across the country. The ILO, in particular, has called for investigations into the military council’s labor rights violations and is preparing to take action under Article 33.
This peaceful demonstration, led by the Kalay People’s Strike Leading Committee, represents a call for swift international action against the military council’s human rights violations. Local residents gathered peacefully to express their demands. Community members emphasized that international intervention is urgently needed as civilians continue to live under the military council’s oppression.
