Revolutionary families from Myanmar living in the UK gathered in front of the Russian Embassy in London on March 19 to protest against the Russian government’s support for Min Aung Hlaing and the Myanmar military. Protesters demanded that Russia immediately cease providing weapons, ammunition, and military equipment to the Myanmar military. They also expressed their complete rejection of the nuclear power plant construction project being jointly developed by Russia and the Myanmar military.
Protesters loudly proclaimed that due to Russia’s support for the Myanmar military, civilians are suffering daily from airstrikes and bombing attacks. They emphasized that thousands of innocent civilians, including children, are being killed as the military specifically targets civilian locations such as schools, hospitals, and markets. They demanded that the Russian government immediately stop supporting Min Aung Hlaing and his associates, which goes against the will of the Myanmar people.
Protesters displayed their demands on handheld posters and signs, urging that if Russia does not stop providing weapons and ammunition to the Myanmar military, the international community should impose stronger sanctions. They also called on countries worldwide to increase their support for the Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy and to put more pressure on stopping the Myanmar military’s brutal actions.
