On March 14, the Shwe Yay Kyun People’s Strike Column led a protest in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, demanding action against the military under Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Protesters peacefully marched while carrying banners calling for the implementation of ILO Article 33 on Myanmar, with the specific message ‘ILO Implement Article 33 On Myanmar Now 2025’.
The demonstrators called for opposition to the military dictatorship, an end to the military’s oppression of civilians, and the establishment of genuine democracy. They specifically demanded international action against the military’s forced conscription, arbitrary arrests and torture of civilians, and commission of war crimes. The protest highlighted the ongoing struggle against military rule and the people’s determination to seek international intervention through legitimate channels.
Yinmabin Township has been a significant center of anti-military resistance within Sagaing Region, where local residents continue to sacrifice and fight against the military dictatorship. This call for the implementation of ILO Article 33 represents an appeal to international organizations to take effective action against the Myanmar military, which has been accused of numerous human rights violations and oppression of its own people since the coup. The peaceful protest demonstrates the continued resistance of Myanmar’s people against military rule and their efforts to seek support from international mechanisms for accountability.
