
Strike columns from the Yinmabin and Salingyi regions in Sagaing Division joined forces to hold an anti-military dictatorship demonstration. During the protest, participants strongly condemned and opposed the invitation of military council leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to the BIMSTEC member states’ meeting. Protesters carried signs expressing their absolute opposition to the military dictatorship system and particularly urged the international community to refrain from recognizing the Myanmar military council.
The demonstrators emphasized that the military council seized power against the will of the people and continues to commit violent oppression against civilians. They stressed that the international community should listen only to the voices of the people who are fighting for genuine democracy. Furthermore, they demanded that international organizations avoid recognizing the Myanmar military council as a legitimate government and refrain from inviting them to their meetings. The protesters gathered peacefully and expressed their positions clearly during the demonstration.
Participants in the protest highlighted that the military council continues to commit acts of violence, arbitrary arrests, torture, and killings against the civilian population. They urged the international community to impose stronger sanctions against the military council. Through the protest, local citizens also sent a message to the world about their sacrifices and determination in the struggle to end the military dictatorship and restore democracy. The demonstrators emphasized that the people of Myanmar continue to resist despite facing severe oppression and human rights violations at the hands of the military regime.
