The Chin People’s Defense Force (CDF-TT) has officially announced the seizure of all houses, compounds, and lands belonging to military council member Dr. Myu Than in Thantlang town as public property. The CDF-Thantlang Council has permanently confiscated all his properties on behalf of the public during the revolution period, citing his active support of the terrorist military that has been burning down the entire Thantlang town and his involvement in brutal operations against civilians as a member of the military council.
According to the announcement, the seized properties will be managed as needed and will be transferred to the future new government. Earlier this year, on February 25, the Chin Revolutionary Forces had already seized Dr. Myu Than’s house in Hakha as public property. This seizure of his property in Thantlang marks the second instance of property confiscation. The CDF has stated that they will continue to handle the properties as necessary during the revolutionary period and will transfer them to the new government when it is established.
Dr. Myu Than, who currently resides in Yangon and Naypyidaw, has established the New Chin State Party along with former Chin State Chief Minister U Hun Nging, retired Director General Dr. Ba Maung, former Union Civil Service Board member U Ngun Maung, and Chin party leader U Naw Than Kap. They are preparing to participate in the upcoming election planned by the military council. Dr. Myu Than was previously a member of the military-affiliated Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and has fully collaborated with the military during the Spring Revolution. He was appointed as a member of the military council by Min Aung Hlaing on February 17, 2023, after serving as the chairman of the Chin State USDP.
