A spokesperson from the Dark Shadow resistance group has confirmed that urban guerrilla forces conducted a remote-controlled mine attack on a police outpost near Yangon’s Mingaladon Airport on April 24 at approximately 7:50 PM. The targeted outpost, located on Airport Side Street in Kyanchaung Ward of Mingaladon Township, has been a site of regular military and police presence where local civilians have reportedly faced daily harassment and oppression.
The Dark Shadow group stated that the primary motivation for the attack was the continuous persecution of local residents by security forces stationed at the outpost, including arbitrary arrests, extortion, and intimidation. The resistance group further emphasized that this operation was part of their broader strategy to disrupt the military council’s administrative mechanisms and halt the violence being perpetrated against civilians. They indicated that such tactical operations would continue to target the military council’s infrastructure and personnel.
The Dark Shadow forces have announced their intention to continue conducting operations against military council soldiers, police, and informants wherever they are found, with additional targets already identified for future actions. In light of these ongoing operations, they have urged civilians to maintain distance from locations associated with the military council, including areas where soldiers, police, militia members, and plainclothes military personnel are known to gather, to ensure their safety and security.
