The incident occurred on March 8 at 3:30 PM between Thame and Kontha villages in Paungde Township, Pyay District. According to Shadow, the intelligence and information officer of the 3601 Battalion of Pyay District People’s Defense Force, Police Corporal Thein Lwin managed to escape with his life, but his motorcycle and weapons were seized.
Police Corporal Thein Lwin spotted the PDF members from a distance and abandoned his motorcycle before fleeing. Despite being fired upon by revolutionary forces, he escaped by jumping into an irrigation canal. The PDF forces seized his motorcycle, three hand grenades, six rounds of various ammunition, a pair of handcuffs, 130,000 kyats in cash, motorcycle registration documents, police ID card, driving license, and other documents. The operation was carried out by members of Company 5 of the 3601 PDF Battalion.
Police Corporal Thein Lwin has been identified as an oppressor of local civilians in the Myatdaing police station jurisdiction. He has been involved in forced recruitment for military service, extorting money from wealthy residents through arbitrary arrests and detention, and his acts of torture have resulted in deaths and imprisonments of local people. The PDF has called on members of the military council’s forces, police, and Pyu Saw Htee militia to cease their violent acts against civilians and defect to the people’s defense forces as soon as possible. Local residents continue to live in fear due to the brutal actions of military council forces, while revolutionary forces work to protect civilian populations from such oppression.
